Discover meaningful connections with our children
I document all of my mommy moments so that I can reflect. Hopefully, you can learn from my shared moments.
Why have we gathered here, Mommies?
Motherhood is beautiful and wonderful. Being a mom is so fun with its daily adventures of ups and downs. It’s so fun getting to live a wild adventure of playing an active role in raising a child to be a positive force in society. Maybe our future daughter or son will discover the cure for cancer!
Not only is it our duty to raise our child with love for the sake of society, but to honor the Lord. He blesses us with children as a gift to us. God loved us so much that not only did He sacrifice His only Son, but he keeps gifting us with the best present in the world: life. Every child is a blessing.
But, blessings can come with challenges; there are good days and bad days. That does not mean that we give up on our kids though. We, instead, motivate and encourage each other to become better moms each day. It takes a whole village to raise a child; we are not alone because we have each other here.
Motherhood Resources
I can’t do this alone; none of us can. Blanche runs to her daughter’s side when she’s giving birth in Golden Girls, which proves that we all want our mommies when we ourselves are mommies. If there are mommies out there who don’t have a strong support system to rely on for advice, I provided some resources I utilize to help me. I cannot claim that these suggestions will be a panacea for your family, but these resources did greatly help me; and so, I wish to include you in my support system.
What are some of Chosen Wife Life’s go-to parenting podcasts/videos?
Calm Parenting Podcast Hosted by: Kirk Martin answered many of my questions on how to solve many parenting woes such as 3 Ways to Stop Yelling, Lecturing & Power Struggles
Any interview with Dr. Erica Komisar She’s on a lot of podcasts such as The Lila Rose Show, The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett, Dad Saves America, and etc. She single-handedly helped me understand how important mother-child physical attachment is for a child’s healthy development for life.
Any Dr. Jordan B. Peterson podcast/video He’s phenomenal. His video on YouTube, Society Forgot This About The Role of a Mother, reinforced my motivation to be the best mother I can be for K.
What is Chosen Wife Life’s take on therapy for my child?
Chosen Wife Life is a huge advocate for healing and cultivating mental health for all ages. Yes, children can definitely benefit from therapy, especially if they experienced trauma at a young age. However, therapy is not free, unless if subsidized through certain government programs. It’s not a make-or-break if your child gets therapy or not, but it’s very helpful.
What should I look out for when it comes to therapy for my child?
There’s a specific type of therapy called, “play therapy.” Not all therapist offices provide play therapy; and, some have their own rules saying they only accept clients of certain ages. However, play therapy is utilized for younger children while talk therapy and/or EMDR is utilized for older kids and adolescents.
Make sure to do research on each psychiatrist’s qualifications, educational background, licensing, their schools of thought when child-rearing, and their relationship with their own children (if they have any).
What are Chosen Wife Life’s favorite Bible verses for mothers?
Ephesians 6:4 This verse says, “Fathers,” but replace that with, “Mothers,” instead because this verse is pertinent to us, too.
1 Peter 5:2-3 I need to lead by example if I want K. to be a good man.
Proverbs 4:23 The world has many devils and temptations that can sway someone toward evil. I must protect myself from evil so that I don’t pass that onto K.
What are books that helped Chosen Wife Life become a better mom?
Self-Healing is a huge factor in becoming a good, stable mother for our kids. Our children are not going to solve our past traumas; and, it is wrong for us to use our kids as a stress outlet because we are angry about our past hurt. So, all of the books here are self-healing books:
- The Body Keeps Score by: Bessel Van Der kolk
- Toxic Parents: Overcoming Their Hurtful Legacy and Reclaiming Your Life by: Dr. Susan Forward
- The Holy Bible
